Waiting
Posted at 11:00 AM

During my early years, I looked upon life as an unfurling web of uncertainties. I was always afraid. Always too scared to meet new people, to get too close, to fall in love. I considered myself as one of the select few who've chosen to live in solitude, to uncover life's mysteries with the company of no one else but myself.
Before, the world was old and small. The world was flat. And paddling too close to the edge would let you fall down the cascades. But now that I've grown, I've met a lot of amazing people. Those who will remain in that part of your heart where only a few people could reach. Now that I've grown, I'm not too scared anymore. All my little monsters seem to fade like winter melting from summer's first rays. Now that I've grown, I'm not afraid to love anymore. The world to me, is new and vast. Limitless.

It is easy here -- as always -- to find an embraceable forgetfulness, a despair worth tender fulfillment.
And with me, there must always be some love of being naive, some mercy, some self-delusion that drunk oblivion does not mar the great shroud of inevitability, woven of trees and earth and stars, and human events, which hovers forever around us ready to close on all that is conjured up by the mind, all that we know.
And I pass slowly, wrapped in saints, and dreaming silently in rapid eye movements. The nightmare will pass. Just hold my hand tightly.

Sleeps With Butterflies
Posted at 10:47 AM

maybe i'm just a speck in the vast savannah,
or maybe it's the little horrors
that suck you in like a vortex,
robbing you of courage, of pride, of peace,
of trust,
leaving you with that bitter pounding of loneliness,
that meek whisper of, "hello, is anyone there?"
reeking from the dank aqueduct,
slippery and wet with broken promises and lies,
and dream-infused kisses,
imaginary embraces
that leave nothing for your soul
while your red ruby croaks compensations,
little lies to ameliorate love,
Love, that has never visited your door
for eons, time immemorial
but one night it crept out
while we were cocooned in sleep
in a bed of butterflies and forbidden promises
but, too naive to let it go,
we caressed and cheered and cried
but false emotions never liberate,
save the souls of the falsest prophets
and the loves of belittled men,
and we were never smart enough to lie
despite our heavy crosses and fake, plastic tears,
and the strange love songs of the loons
hiding beneath the bed in the morning
and chopping away at our hearts by night.

Sleeps With Butterflies
Tori Amos
airplanes
take you away again
are you flying above where we live
then i look up, a glare in my eyes
are you having regrets about last night
i'm not, but i like rivers that
rush in
so then i dove in
is there trouble ahead for you, the acrobat
i won't push you, unless you have a net
you say the word you know i will find you
or if you need some time i don't mind
i don't hold on to the tail of your kite
i'm not like the girls that you've known
but i believe i'm worth coming home to
kiss away night
this girl only sleeps with butterflies
with butterflies
so go on and fly then, boy
balloons look good from on the ground
i fear with pins and needles around
we may fall then stumble upon a carousel
it could take us anywhere
you say the word you know i will find you
or if you need some time i don't mind
i don't hold on to the tail of your kite
i'm not like the girls that you've known
but i believe i'm worth coming home to
kiss her, waiting by this girl
this girl
you say the word you know i will find you
or if you need some time i don't mind
i don't hold onto the tail of your kite
i'm not like the girls that you've known
but i believe i'm worth coming home to
kiss away night
this girl only sleeps with butterflies
with butterflies
with butterflies
so go on and fly boy
