The world is blind.
It is deaf and silent.
No moving tapestries to serve as consort.
I will roam this sad road alone.
And even as I face the grinning puppets that greet my everyday,
I am forced to smile back and hold back my liquid misery.
I am happy.
Everything is okay.
This is what they know.
This is enough.
The lashing tongue is enough to imprint permanent scars,
In as much as mocking leers cut through my very strength.
But I will keep my silence.
You will not see me cry.
When you see me today,
Smile for me,
And tell me I look good.
Vanity is the only thing that I have.
Do not take it away.
